Giffords husband, Mark Kelly, was a navy captain. U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner said the shooting was tragic.
Sensenbrenner, a Republican, says Americans are fortunate to live in a country that allows open debate, and it's a "tragic, horrible day" when someone makes a senseless attack on people participating in democracy.
